Shoryagate was formally established in 2004, though its journey began in 2003 with a powerful vision—to create meaningful cinema, music, and theatre from the hills of Himachal Pradesh. After evolving through several identities, the name “Shoryagate” was finalized, representing courage, creativity, and a gateway to artistic expression. Expanding its social commitment, Shoryagate Social Trust was Separately founded in 2016.

In 2004, Shoryagate created history by producing “Aadhaar”, the first Hindi feature film from Himachal Pradesh, which premiered at CPRI Auditorium on 30th September 2004. This milestone became the foundation for a growing creative movement in the region.

Over the years, Shoryagate has actively contributed to theatre by developing and presenting original Hindi plays such as “14 August,” “Baap,” “Rukman Rani,” “Kutiya,” “Rangama,” “Scandal 65,” and “Baikunth – Avenger of Bhagat Singh.” The organization has also remained associated with theatre activities across North India and Mumbai, strengthening its artistic network.

In cinema, Shoryagate proudly co-presented the Himachali regional film “Sanjh” (2017), directed by Ajay Saklani, supporting its national theatrical release. Continuing its commitment to nurturing talent, Shoryagate launched Shimla’s first structured filmmaking training program in 2018, empowering aspiring artists at the grassroots level.

In its musical journey, beyond writing and composing original songs, Shoryagate has actively built a cultural platform for music lovers. Since 2011, it has been organizing “Alfaz-o-Sargam,” a dedicated event celebrating poetry, music, and live performances, creating a meaningful connection between artists and audiences. The company has also picturized folk-based music videos like “Ladi Surma” and “Giri Dharo Riye,” blending traditional Himachali essence with storytelling.

Alongside this, Shoryagate has created social awareness films, short films, and advertising projects. Expanding into digital and feature storytelling, it is currently working on web series such as “Lockdown 21 Days” and “14 August,” along with films including “August Affairs,” “Mall,” and “Ulti.” Recently, it contributed as Creative Producer for “Chhaura” (2025–26) and worked as Associate Production on the Punjabi project “Kothai.”

Today, Shoryagate stands as a prominent film, music, theatre, and event production company based in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Collaborating with artists and technicians from across the Indian industry, it continues to push boundaries while staying rooted in its original belief—that world-class creative expression can emerge from the mountains.

The vision remains strong: to see Himachal Pradesh recognized as a vibrant center of mainstream performing and visual arts in India.
